1. What CricLive is
CricLive is a live cricket scoring platform. You score a match ball by ball, and everyone following it sees the score update instantly — on the web or in the mobile app.
Everything is organised under three ideas:
- Organization — your club. It owns your teams, players, venues, tournaments and matches. You can belong to more than one.
- Tournament — a competition with fixtures, a points table and stats.
- Match — the thing you actually score.
The top menu has Live Scores, Tournaments, Players, News, Pricing and Contact. Once you sign in, a Manage link appears — that is where you build and run everything.
2. Creating an account
- 1Go to Register and sign up with your name, email and a password — or use Sign in with Google.
- 2Sign in at Login. Forgotten your password? Use the reset link on that page and follow the email.
- 3Click Manage in the top menu to reach your organizations.
Anyone can browse live scores, scorecards, tournaments and player profiles without an account. You only need to sign in to create or score.
3. Setting up your club
- 1Go to Manage. If you have no club yet, create one — give it a name and you become its owner.
- 2Open the club. You will see tabs across the top: Tournaments, Matches, Teams, Players, Venues, News, Roles & Access and Billing.
- 3Build in this order — Players, then Teams, then Venues. Later steps pick from these lists, so filling them first saves backtracking.
Edit org and Delete org sit next to the club name. Only the owner sees them.
4. Players, teams and venues
Players
Add each player with their full name. You can also set a playing role — Batter, Bowler, All-rounder, Wicket-keeper or WK-Batter — a bowling style, a photo, date of birth, country, height and a short bio. Only the name is required; the rest enriches their public profile under Players.
Teams
- 1Create the team with a name and a short name (the 3-letter code shown on scorecards).
- 2Upload a logo if you have one.
- 3Open the team and add players to its squad from your club's player list.
Venues
Add grounds with a name, city and country. You pick a venue when scheduling a match.
5. Tournaments and fixtures
- 1On the Tournaments tab, create a tournament — name, format (overs per innings, players per side and the rest) and dates.
- 2Attach the teams that are taking part.
- 3Use Generate fixtures to create the match list automatically. You choose how many matches to generate.
- 4Or add matches by hand from the Matches tab when you want full control over who plays whom.
Match rules are frozen at the toss. Each match takes a snapshot of the tournament and format settings when it is created. Editing the tournament or format afterwards does not reach matches that already exist. To change those, either edit the match directly or regenerate the fixtures.
The public tournament page shows the fixture list, the points table and tournament-wide stats as matches complete.
6. Scheduling a match
- 1Open the Matches tab and create a match — pick the two teams, the tournament, the venue and the start time.
- 2Before the toss you can still edit the match — change the time, the format or the overs — or delete it.
- 3When you are ready to play, open the match and choose Score to open the scorer console.
Once the toss is done, the innings length lives with the match, not the tournament. Change it from Match settings inside the scorer console rather than from the format.
7. Scoring a match, ball by ball
The scorer console is at /score/<match>. You need scoring rights on the club — see Roles & access.
Starting the match
- 1Select the playing XI for each side from the squads.
- 2Toss — record who won it and whether they chose to bat or bowl.
- 3Openers — pick the two batters and the opening bowler. The match goes live.
The keypad
012346— runs off the bat. Strike rotates automatically on odd runs and at the end of each over.Wdwide ·Nbno-ball ·Bbye ·Lbleg-bye. A no-ball can also carry byes or leg-byes run off it — the console asks.W— opens the wicket sheet. Pick the dismissal type, the fielder where one applies, and which end the wicket was broken at for a run out.Undo— takes back the last ball. Everything derived from it (the scorecard, over summaries, commentary and player totals) is rebuilt.
You can also record where the shot went on the field diagram, and log fielding events such as a dropped catch or a misfield.
During the innings
- Next batter — after a wicket the console asks who comes in.
- New bowler — at the end of each over. A bowler cannot bowl two overs in a row, and the console will not let you pick one who did.
- Interruption and Resume — for rain or bad light. On resuming you can cut the innings short and apply a revised target where DLS is enabled.
- Substitution and Change squad — for a player who arrives late or has to leave.
- Declare and Follow-on — in formats that allow them.
- Match settings — change the overs per innings mid-match.
Scoring works offline. Every tap is saved on your device first and shown on screen straight away, then sent to the server in the background. You can keep scoring through a dropped signal and it will catch up. The sync badge at the top shows Synced, Offline or how many balls are still queued — if a number sits there and does not clear, check your connection before scoring much further, because balls are sent strictly in order.
8. Gully cricket (one batter at a time)
Gully mode is for a casual game with one squad and no two sides — everybody bats, everybody bowls, and everyone gets their own stats. Results stay out of team standings and head-to-head records.
- 1From your club page, open the Gully Cricket section and choose Start Gully Match. No tournament is needed.
- 2Pick the team whose squad is playing, then create the match.
- 3Choose who is playing. Tick the players who turned up. If someone is not in that squad, tick show everyone in the club to widen the list — your existing ticks are kept.
- 4Set how long everyone bats — the overs each player gets. The page shows the resulting total, e.g. 6 players × 2 = 12 overs.
- 5Optionally shuffle the batting order, then Save roster.
- 6Check the batting order, pick the opening bowler and choose Start match.
While scoring
- One batter is at the crease at a time. The dots under their name show how many of their allotted balls they have used.
- The innings ends when every batter has had their turn — not when a set number of wickets fall. A batter who bats out their quota simply retires and the next one comes in.
- Retire ends the current batter's turn early, for someone who has to leave.
- Who bowls next is suggested by who has bowled least. The suggestions are advisory — you can pick anyone eligible. A batter cannot bowl to themselves, and nobody may bowl two overs in a row.
- The field diagram works the same as the standard console, and the ranking table at the bottom shows every player's runs and balls.
- House rules can turn on one-tip-one-hand catches and LBW.
When a batter is out part-way through an over, the console asks you to choose the next batter and pick a bowler again. The over still runs to its full six legal balls — the ball count carries on rather than restarting.
9. Following a match
Open Live Scores and pick a match. The match centre has these tabs:
- Summary — the live score, current batters and bowler.
- Scorecard — full batting and bowling figures for both innings.
- Commentary — ball-by-ball text, newest first, with over cards.
- Overs — every over as a row of balls.
- Stats — partnerships, run rates and scoring breakdowns.
- MVP — the player-of-the-match points as they build.
- Squads — both playing XIs.
Scores update by themselves — you do not need to refresh. You can follow a team or a match to get notifications, and the mobile app can push match alerts to your phone.
10. Roles and access
Open Roles & Access in your club to invite people by email and give them a role:
- tournament admin — set up tournaments, teams and fixtures.
- scorer — score matches.
- commentator — add commentary.
- viewer — read-only access.
Need something more specific? Use + Custom role, name it (say “Statistician”) and tick exactly the permissions it should carry.
The club owner is separate from all of this and always keeps full control, including editing and deleting the club.
11. News and site content
The News tab publishes articles to the public News page — match reports, announcements, whatever your club wants to share. Write a title and body, add an image, and publish. Site pages are content-managed too, so static pages can be edited without a code change.
12. Plans and billing
Pricing lists the available plans and what each includes. The Billing tab in your club shows your current plan and lets you switch.
Plans cap things like how many teams and tournaments you can create, and how many matches you can have live at once. If you hit a limit you will see a clear message when creating a team or tournament, or at the toss — upgrade and try again.
13. The mobile app
The Android app covers the same ground as the website — browsing, following and full ball-by-ball scoring, including gully matches. It uses the same account and the same data, so you can start scoring on your phone and carry on in a browser. Scoring works offline there too and syncs when you get signal back. Turn on notifications to get match alerts pushed to your device.
14. Troubleshooting
The sync badge shows queued balls and is not clearing
Your device cannot reach the server. Balls are sent strictly in order, so one that will not send holds up everything after it. Check your connection; the queue drains by itself once you are back online.
A ball was rejected
The message says why — a bowler bowling two overs in a row, a batter bowling to themselves, or a bowler who has used their full quota. Fix the selection and carry on.
I scored something wrong
Use Undo for the last ball. Earlier balls can be corrected from the commentary feed. Either way the scorecard, over summaries, commentary and player totals are all rebuilt to match.
Changing the format did not change my match
Match rules are frozen when the match is created. Edit the match itself, or regenerate the fixtures.
